A school trip to Philadelphia with Colonial Capital Tours brings us back in time to the American Colonial Era. There is much to see and do and it is mostly concentrated in the Historic District.

A visit to the city of Brotherly Love will include an introduction at the Independence Hall Visitor Center, where we are able to explore a variety of exhibits on the founding of our freedom and get oriented with the layout of the Historic District. We see the Liberty Bell housed in its new home, the Liberty Bell Pavilion.

We will visit Congress Hall, where the First Continental Congress met. At Independence Hall, National Park Service rangers will explain how the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were debated and signed on the premises.

Your Philadelphia school trip also includes visits to the U.S. Mint, the Betsy Ross House, Franklin Court, the B. Free Post Office and Christ Church where Colonial America made its break with the Church of England. We will stroll the quaint Elfreth's Alley, seeing the oldest continually habited homes in the United States.

A school trip to Philadelphia would not be complete without a visit to the National Constitution Center, which includes the audiovisual presentation, "Freedom Rising," and all of its wonderful exhibits on the history of the U.S. Constitution and how it relates to us as Americans today.

Your Philadelphia school trip continues westward to Valley Forge Historical Park where George Washington's Continental Army camped during the harsh winters of the Revolutionary War. Historical touring continues at Gettysburg National Battlefield where the most devastating battle of the Civil War took place between the Union and Confederate armies. Options may include touring Lancaster, visiting the Amish and learning about their way of life. Watch how chocolate is made at Hershey's Chocolate World and visit Hershey Park.
